The Malaysian government, through the National Unity Ministry, is currently drafting a dress code for the Jalur Gemilang, the national flag, to ensure it is treated with respect. This initiative follows observations of inappropriate handling of the flag during National Day celebrations. The proposed guidelines will cover how the flag should be displayed, handled, and worn, aiming to prevent any disrespectful actions. The draft will be presented to the Cabinet for approval, and once finalized, the guidelines will be disseminated to the public to promote proper etiquette in handling the national flag.
