After two years, the X Games are leaving Southern California. Back in November, the extreme sports competition announced it wasn't going to return to Ventura but kept its future home under wraps. Now they've finally revealed the games are moving to Sacramento.

The X Games, a premier action sports event, is relocating from Southern California to Aspen, Colorado, and Ventura, California, for its 2023 winter and summer editions respectively. This move marks the end of a 16-year run in Southern California, influenced by the desire to refresh the event's format and location. The Winter X Games will take place from January 27-29, 2023, in Aspen, while the Summer X Games will occur in Ventura from July 21-23, 2023. This shift aims to bring new energy to the games, with Ventura offering a beachside setting for summer sports and Aspen providing a snowy backdrop for winter events. The change also reflects a strategic decision to engage with different communities and potentially attract new audiences.
