Spain fell to 0-2 in group play at the United Cup in Perth, Australia, and was eliminated from the mixed-team competition on Saturday. Jessica Bouzas Maneiro defeated Greece's Maria Sakkari 6-2, 6-1 to give Spain a 1-0 lead,


Spain was eliminated from the United Cup after losing to Australia in a decisive mixed doubles match, despite not having their star player Carlos Alcaraz, who was absent due to a recent ankle injury. The match, which took place in Perth, saw Australia's Alex de Minaur and Ajla Tomljanovic defeating Spain's Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and Sara Sorribes Tormo with a score of 6-2, 6-3. Earlier, de Minaur had also won his singles match against Davidovich Fokina, while Sorribes Tormo secured a victory for Spain against Tomljanovic. However, Australia clinched the tie with the mixed doubles win, advancing to the quarterfinals where they will face either the USA or Great Britain.
