Alex de Minaur swept past Tomas Martin Etcheverry to win his first match of the season Saturday but it was not enough to prevent Argentina upsetting hosts Australia at the United Cup, while Switzerland beat France.

Alex de Minaur secured a victory against Argentina's Francisco Cerundolo with a score of 6-1, 6-3 at the United Cup in Perth, but it wasn't enough to prevent Australia from losing to Argentina in their Group E tie. Despite de Minaur's win, Australia's hopes were dashed when the mixed doubles team of Storm Hunter and Matt Ebden lost a tight match to Argentina's Maria Carle and Tomas Etcheverry, 6-2, 3-6, 10-6. This defeat means Australia must now win their upcoming matches against the USA and Great Britain to have a chance at advancing to the quarter-finals.
