  • The Williamston wrestling team will no longer be competing in the Michigan High School Athletic Association team state tournament. The Hornets have forfeited their team regional title after self-reporting the participation of an ineligible athlete in Wednesday's match.

The Williamston wrestling team forfeited the Division 3 regional title after it was discovered that they had an ineligible wrestler participate in the regional semifinal match against Three Rivers. The wrestler in question had competed in too many matches, exceeding the allowed limit set by the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) rules. As a result, Williamston had to forfeit their 35-34 win, handing the regional title to Three Rivers. This incident not only cost Williamston the championship but also ended their season, as they were set to advance to the state quarterfinals. The team, which had been undefeated in duals and was ranked No. 1 in Division 3, expressed their disappointment and took full responsibility for the oversight.
