Toby Keith won't be here to see it, but his Derby dream is about to run
Toby Keith, the late country music star who passed away in February at the age of 62, will have his legacy celebrated during the Kentucky Derby weekend as his horse, named after his hit song "Dream Walkin'," competes in the $600,000, Grade 2 Alysheba Stakes on Friday at Churchill Downs. The horse, trained by the renowned conditioner Brad Cox, is a 5-year-old gelding who has previously won the Curlin Stakes at Saratoga and finished third in the Grade 1 Pegasus World Cup. Keith's family expressed their pride in continuing his legacy through this event, highlighting his love for horse racing and his contributions to the sport, which included owning and breeding horses.
