  • Winnipeg's Kaitlyn Lawes made a game-winning draw to the button for a 5-4 victory over Switzerland's Silvana Tirinzoni on Wednesday at the Kioti National in St. John's.

Kaitlyn Lawes, a Canadian Olympic champion, secured her spot in the playoffs at the Grand Slam of Curling's Boost National in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, by defeating Anna Hasselborg's Swedish team with a score of 6-5. This victory was part of a series of games where Lawes' team managed to recover from an initial loss to the top-ranked team skipped by Rachel Homan. In other matches, Kerri Einarson's team also advanced to the playoffs after defeating Italy's Stefania Constantini, while Homan's team clinched a playoff berth with a win over Japan's Satsuki Fujisawa. On the men's side, Brendan Bottcher and Matt Dunstone both moved forward to the playoffs, with Bottcher defeating Scotland's Ross Whyte and Dunstone overcoming Switzerland's Yannick Schwaller. The event, which is the third of the Grand Slam season, continues to showcase high-level curling competition.
