  • Shiffrin told NBC Sports that she likely will not be able to compete in Beaver Creek, Colorado. Dec 2, 2024

Mikaela Shiffrin, the American skiing star, will miss the World Cup slalom and giant slalom races at Killington, Vermont, due to a crash during a training session. The incident occurred when Shiffrin caught an edge and fell, leading to a hard impact with the safety nets. Although she was able to ski down to the finish area, she experienced significant pain in her left knee and hip. Subsequent medical evaluations confirmed no major injuries, but she is currently experiencing soreness and stiffness, prompting her to withdraw from the upcoming races to focus on recovery. This decision comes as a disappointment for fans, especially since Shiffrin has a strong track record at Killington, having won five out of the six previous races held there.
