Olympic dressage star Charlotte Dujardin has been suspended for two months after a video emerged showing her excessively whipping her horse, Valegro, during a training session. The footage, which was taken in 2017 but only recently came to light, depicted Dujardin using the whip multiple times in quick succession, leading to public outcry and an investigation by the International Equestrian Federation (FEI). Despite her illustrious career, including multiple Olympic gold medals, Dujardin accepted the suspension, acknowledging that her actions were not in line with the welfare standards expected in equestrian sports. The FEI emphasized that while the incident was from several years ago, it still warranted disciplinary action to uphold the sport's integrity and animal welfare standards.
