In his first year as a high school football coach, former New Orleans Saints quarterback Luke McCown led Rusk High School in Texas to a state championship. McCown, who had a 13-year NFL career, took over a team that had previously struggled, finishing with a 2-8 record. Under his leadership, Rusk High School not only improved dramatically but also clinched the Class 4A Division II state title with a 33-27 victory over Bellville. His coaching philosophy focused on building a strong team culture, emphasizing hard work, and fostering a family-like atmosphere among the players, which significantly contributed to their success.
