The New York Yankees might encounter less competition in signing free agent slugger Juan Soto, according to MLB insider Jon Heyman. Soto, who was traded to the Yankees from the San Diego Padres last season, is expected to command a high salary due to his impressive performance, including a .275 batting average, 35 home runs, and 109 RBIs in 2023. Despite his value, Heyman suggests that teams like the New York Mets, who previously showed interest, might not pursue Soto as aggressively this time around. This could be due to various factors including financial considerations or strategic team-building decisions. The Yankees, having already experienced Soto's impact, are likely keen to retain him, potentially making their path to re-signing him smoother.
