Wake Forest fires women's volleyball coach after six seasons

  • Wake Forest has fired women's volleyball coach Randi Smart after six seasons. The school made the announcement on Sunday. John Currie, the athletics director at Wake Forest, announced the move in his From the Quad newsletter to alumni and fans.
The Wake Forest women's volleyball team has parted ways with head coach Bill Ferguson after six seasons, as announced by the university. Ferguson, who had been with the team since 2018, led the Demon Deacons to a 47-113 record during his tenure. His best season was in 2021 when the team achieved a 17-13 record. Despite this, the team struggled in recent years, finishing with a 10-20 record in the most recent season. Wake Forest has begun a national search for a new coach to lead the volleyball program.
