Virginia Opens Competition at Liberty Kickoff

  • The Virginia men's and women's track and field program opened competition for the 2024-25 indoor track and field season Thursday (Dec.5) at the Liberty Kickoff where David Frasier, Ethan Robinson and Elsa Spoor competed in the combined events at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex.

The Virginia women's swimming and diving team opened their competition at the Liberty Kickoff on December 5, 2024, in Lynchburg, Virginia. The team had a strong start with notable performances including a victory in the 200 medley relay by the team of Gretchen Walsh, Jasmine Nocentini, Alex Walsh, and Maxine Parker, finishing with a time of 1:34.68. Gretchen Walsh also won the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.16, while Alex Walsh took first in the 200 IM with a time of 1:54.07. Other highlights included victories by Ella Nelson in the 100 breaststroke (58.07), Cavan Gormsen in the 100 backstroke (52.17), and Tess Howley in the 200 butterfly (1:55.02). The team also excelled in diving, with Elizabeth Kaye and Emily Grund winning the 1-meter and 3-meter events, respectively. The meet showcased the depth and talent of the Virginia squad as they prepare for the upcoming season.
