The LPGA's International Crown just added a fascinating new wrinkle
- The Hanwha LIfePlus International Crown will have a new twist this year. The event will incorporate a World Team that will include golfers who otherwise would not have qualified via their country's selection.
The LPGA's International Crown, set to take place from May 4-7, 2023, at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco, has introduced an exciting new format for its team event. This year, the competition will feature eight teams, each consisting of four players, representing countries like the United States, South Korea, Japan, Sweden, England, Thailand, Australia, and China. The event will start with a round-robin stage where teams are divided into two pools, playing in four-ball matches. The top two teams from each pool will advance to a single-elimination bracket, culminating in a final match. This format change aims to increase the intensity and excitement of the competition, with the potential for dramatic comebacks and decisive matches. The event not only showcases top-tier golf talent but also promotes international camaraderie and competition.
