  • The World Anti-Doping Agency will not appeal against the ban given to Poland's Iga Swiatek. The five-time major winner tested positive for heart medication trimetazidine (TMZ) in an out-of-competition sample in August 2024.

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has decided not to appeal the decision regarding the doping ban of tennis star Iga Swiatek. Swiatek, who was found to have traces of a banned substance in her system, argued that the substance was ingested inadvertently through contaminated supplements. After a thorough review, WADA concluded that the evidence supported Swiatek's claim of unintentional doping. Consequently, her provisional suspension was lifted, and she was cleared to return to competition without any sanctions. This decision has sparked discussions on the adequacy of current anti-doping regulations and the challenges athletes face in ensuring their supplements are free from banned substances.
