Mikaela Shiffrin, the American skiing star, has withdrawn from the World Ski Championships following a crash during a downhill race in Cortina d'Ampeche, Italy, on January 26, 2024. She revealed that she is dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) as a result of the incident. Shiffrin, who has won 95 World Cup races, experienced a high-speed crash where she lost control, flew off the course, and landed in a safety net. Although she was able to walk away from the crash, she later described feeling "a little bit of PTSD" and has been focusing on recovery, both physically and mentally. She has decided to skip the championships to ensure she is fully prepared for the upcoming World Cup races, emphasizing the need for more time to regain her confidence and physical condition.
