Chloe Cho brings home first Big Ten Freshman Gymnast of the Year title since 2008

  • Illinois women's gymnastics is home to the Big Ten Freshman of the Year for the first time in more than 15 years. Chloe Cho received the honor at the Big Ten Championships in Ann Arbor, Mich., where the team finished sixth and she finished seventh in the all-around competition.

Chloe Cho, a freshman at the University of Illinois, has been named the Big Ten Freshman Gymnast of the Year, marking the first time since 2008 that an Illinois gymnast has received this honor. Cho, who hails from South Korea, has made a significant impact in her debut season by competing in all 12 meets, achieving a perfect 10 on the balance beam, and setting a new program record with a score of 9.975 on the uneven bars. Her performances have not only earned her individual accolades but also contributed to the Illinois gymnastics team's success, including a historic win over Michigan State. Her achievements were recognized at the Big Ten Championships where she was named to the All-Championship team.
