Hyeseong Kim Embracing 'Competition' On Dodgers Roster

  • The Los Angeles Dodgers added to their infield depth when they signed Hyeseong Kim to a three-year, $12.5 million contract earlier this month. In a corresponding move, the Dodgers designated former top prospect Diego Cartaya for assignment in order to make room on their 40-man roster for Kim.

Hyeseong Kim, a 25-year-old infielder from South Korea, has joined the Los Angeles Dodgers on a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. Kim, who has been a standout in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) with a .313 batting average over six seasons, is looking to make an impact in Major League Baseball. Despite the competitive nature of the Dodgers' roster, Kim is optimistic about his chances, citing his experience with high-pressure situations in Korea. He aims to showcase his skills, particularly his ability to hit for average and his defensive versatility, during spring training. Kim's addition to the Dodgers is part of their strategy to bolster their infield depth, and he is prepared to compete for a spot on the team, understanding the challenges but also the opportunities that come with playing for a prestigious organization like the Dodgers.
