A federal judge has ruled that a class action lawsuit involving potentially 15,000 current and former college athletes can proceed, aiming to secure a share of the billions of dollars in revenue generated by major college sports. The lawsuit, which could see athletes receiving compensation from the NCAA and the nation's top conferences, was initiated by former Duke football player, Reggie Bush, and others. The athletes are seeking damages for the use of their names, images, and likenesses without compensation, with the potential payout estimated at $28 billion. The case, which has been ongoing for over a decade, was allowed to move forward as a class action by U.S. District Judge Claudia Wilken, who rejected the NCAA's argument that the claims were too varied to be grouped together.
