  • FIFA president Gianni Infantino on Wednesday made official what had been expected for more than a year, formally announcing that the centennial men's World Cup in 2030 will be co-hosted across six countries on three continents: Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay in South America, Morocco in Northern Africa and Portugal and Spain in Europe.
FIFA has announced that Saudi Arabia will host the 2034 World Cup, following a streamlined bidding process where they were the only nation to submit a bid after Australia withdrew. This decision marks a significant moment as it will be the first time the Middle East hosts the tournament solo, following Qatar's co-hosting in 2022. Additionally, the 2030 World Cup will be a unique centennial celebration, with matches spread across Spain, Portugal, and Morocco, and one game each in Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay to honor the tournament's history. This multi-continental approach aims to celebrate the World Cup's 100th anniversary, with the opening games in South America and the majority of the tournament in Europe and Africa.
