  • American Mikaela Shiffrin will not take part in the giant slalom event at the world championships in Austria, saying on Monday that she is not yet mentally ready after her recent return from injury but will now compete in the team combined competition.

Mikaela Shiffrin, the American skiing star, has withdrawn from the giant slalom at the World Championships in Meribel, France, due to a left leg injury she sustained in a downhill race on Friday. Shiffrin, who has won 14 world championship medals, including 7 golds, was seen limping after a crash in the downhill event. Although she completed the race, she later confirmed her withdrawal from the giant slalom, stating that she would need time to recover from her injuries. This decision comes as a disappointment for fans and adds uncertainty to her participation in future events.
